How to Reference Generative AI

If a student has used Generative AI in their research, this must be acknowledged in the body of their essay, report or assessment. 

In-text Examples 

When promted with "Can you eat a Capybara?" the ChatGPT generated text indicates that although it isn't common, in some regions in South America, capybaras may be hunted for their meat. 

In response to the question ..., Perplexity gave the following response ....

In an online chat with Gemini...

You may also ask your students to include the full-text of their responses as an appendix to their assignment.

Generative AI, such as Chat GPT or Gemini is referenced much like a webpage. See the examples below:
